Beauty for Ashes Reentry
|
Beauty for Ashes Reentry (BFAR) is an 12+ month, Christ-centered program that promotes inner healing and life transformation for inmates. Beauty for Ashes Reentry (BFAR) operates in both of Missouri’s Women’s prisons.
This program is open to any female inmate incarcerated in the state of Missouri, that meets the criteria based on security and sentencing. The members of BFAR join on a voluntary basis. They do not have to have a faith in Jesus Christ, but they are fully aware they are committing to a Christ centered program. |
What are the primary risk factors for women that lead to incarceration?
Recidivism (re-incarceration) is a significant problem throughout Missouri. Almost 2,500 women are incarcerated in Missouri state prisons. Throughout the U.S., the number of women in prison has increased at nearly double the rate of men.[1]

Seventy-five percent of these women are primary caregivers for their children. Once mom goes to prison, these children are left to be raised by another family member or put into foster care. [2]

When a woman goes through the justice system without addressing these issues, her chances of returning to prison are significantly increased.[3]
Unless they address these issues and learn a new way of living, these mothers return home to raise their children in an environment that breeds a cycle of destruction. Beauty for Ashes women are healed at the root of issues, discipled in their faith, and ready to serve their family and community with a ministry of love.
